Okay, the wait finally has a date attached to it. Rockstar Games confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders open June 25, ahead of the game's November 19, 2026 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. You can reserve it through digital storefronts and select retailers, and you can already wishlist it on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store to get pinged the second it goes live.

What Rockstar Actually Announced

The short version: a date, and cover art. The reveal leans into classic Vice City vibes and shows the two leads, Jason and Lucia, set loose in the state of Leonida. What's missing is the thing everyone actually wants to know, which is the price. Rockstar hasn't said. No editions, no pre-order bonuses, no number. There's chatter about $80 or even $100, but that's guesswork until the 25th.

Why the Date Matters More Than It Looks

Here's the part that's quietly a big deal. Digital stores generally won't open pre-orders until a game is within a year of release. So Take-Two, Rockstar's parent, flipping the switch on June 25 is the strongest signal yet that November 19 is real and not sliding into 2027. That's reassuring, because this one has moved before: it was once penciled in for 2025, then May 2026, before landing on its current fall date.

For context, this is the first new mainline GTA since 2013. People have rebuilt entire PCs, had kids, and changed careers waiting for it. Take-Two is betting big, projecting record sales off the back of the launch.

You'll Love This If, Skip It If

You'll love this if you've been refreshing Rockstar's site for years and want your GTA 6 copy locked in the moment you can. Wishlist it now so you're not fighting the queue later.

Skip the rush if you're a PC player. There's no PC version at launch, just PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a PC release widely expected to follow later. Personally, I'd wait rather than buy a console to play four months early, but I've also made worse decisions for less.

What's Next

Pre-orders go live Thursday, June 25, and that's likely when pricing and editions finally get confirmed. Don't be shocked if a fresh trailer drops alongside them. Mark the date, decide your budget, and try to stay calm.
